GRP Fibreglass Roofing in Hemel Hempstead

Hard-Wearing GRP Fibreglass Roofing in Hemel Hempstead

TNR Roofing Services is based in Hemel Hempstead, so GRP roofing across HP1, HP2 and HP3 is local work for us. We lay fibreglass on flat roofs over extensions and garages, on dormers and on balconies, and repair cracked GRP where the rest of the roof is sound.

GRP is not the answer for every roof. It costs more than felt, and on a very large roof a single EPDM sheet can be quicker to lay. For a balcony, a roof people stand on or a dormer with awkward corners, though, fibreglass is usually our first suggestion, and we'll explain why at your free survey.

What's included

Our GRP Fibreglass Roofing Services in Hemel Hempstead

The main parts of the job, each listed in your quote.

  • New GRP flat roofs laminated in one piece, curing into a rigid layer with no laps or seams for water to find.
  • GRP balconies finished with a hard-wearing topcoat, with a textured, slip-resistant option for better grip underfoot.
  • Fibreglass dormer roofs, where moulded corners and trims keep awkward shapes watertight.
  • Extension and garage roofs finished with pre-formed GRP edge and drip trims for a neat, durable edge.
  • Soft or flexing timber decks replaced before laying, so the cured fibreglass sits on a firm base and resists cracking.
  • Cracks in existing GRP repaired by grinding back, re-laminating the damaged section and recoating it.

Pricing

Costing GRP Fibreglass Roofing in Hemel Hempstead

GRP prices in Hemel Hempstead depend on these points, all assessed at your free survey:

  • The size of the roof or balcony and how many corners, upstands and edges need forming
  • Whether the existing timber deck is firm enough to keep or needs replacing with new boards
  • Your topcoat colour and any textured, slip-resistant finish wanted on a balcony
  • The type and length of GRP edge trims, drip trims and gutter details
  • Access to the roof or balcony, including any scaffold needed on upper floors

How it works

How We Lay GRP Roofs in Hemel Hempstead

What happens from your first call to the finished work.

  1. Free Survey and Deck Check

We look at the deck, the drainage and the roof edges, check the boards for any flex, and note the trims and upstands involved, so the quote reflects the real job.

  2. Quote and Dry-Weather Booking

You get a no-obligation quote. Once you go ahead, we book the laying for a dry spell, because the resin needs dry conditions to cure as it should.

  3. Decking, Trims and Laminating

Failing boards are replaced with a firm new deck and the edge trims are fixed. Resin is then rolled through the glass fibre mat until it is fully wetted out, with extra reinforcement at corners and upstands.

  4. Topcoat and Final Review

When the laminate has cured, the coloured topcoat goes on to seal the surface. Once it has hardened, we clear up, review the completed work with you and confirm everything has been done as agreed.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I choose GRP or EPDM for my flat roof?

It depends on the roof. GRP gives a hard surface for balconies and roofs that get walked on, and suits dormers with awkward corners. On a very large, plain roof, a single EPDM sheet can be quicker to lay. We recommend one at the survey.

What colours can the topcoat be?

Topcoats come in several colours, with greys and darker shades common on roofs. We go through the options with you when we quote, so a visible roof or balcony suits the house.

Can I walk on a GRP roof?

Yes. Once cured, GRP copes with foot traffic, which is why it is our usual choice for balconies and for roofs that need regular access.

Do I need Dacorum Borough Council approval for a GRP roof?

Not normally for re-covering an existing roof. If your home in HP1, HP2 or HP3 is listed or in a conservation area, or you are adding a new balcony, check with Dacorum Borough Council first.
